Island Health Services (IHS) was formed in 2005, and established in 2006, to help bridge the gap between needed, specialty medical services and the Grenadian patient.
In particular, Dialysis services were singled out as the neediest area of healthcare, and quickly implemented the project "Dialysis Grenada".
The first clinic was established in Nov 2006 in Belmont St. George's. 3 years later the clinic moved in the a small private hospital (St. Augustine’s Medical Services). Now, 15 years later we are located on the first floor of the Darius Building, on Grand E’tang Road meters away from the St. George’s General Hospital.
Over the past 15 years, we were concentrating on stabilizing the logistics of providing dialysis services while trying to provide sufficient capacity. However, beginning 2020 we have 5 year plan to impact ESRD by investing in preventative strategies and promoting nutritional and lifestyle education.
Island Health Services will continually strive to improve the quality of care we provide to our patients. Annual patient satisfaction surveys are one of the methods that we use to assess the quality of our service.
IHS Dialysis standards are measured against both British Renal Association Standards and American Nephrology Nursing Association Guidelines.
